Welcome to Later In Life Travel– A Travel Blog

Welcome to Later In Life Travel, the place for tips, suggestions and information for the mature, adult traveler.

Many of us have come to the place in our lives where we feel we have deserved the right to do whatever we want to do.  Some of us have wanted to travel and see the world but have not stepped out of our comfort zone far enough to take the first step.  Others have traveled a little bit but are reluctant to do more because of  their level of ability or disability.   Some have been traveling for years and have learned many tricks of the trade and have delighted in their experiences.  This is the place for all categories of adults.   This is a place for sharing.

I am a retired educator, a wife, a mother and a grandmother.   I have always loved to travel.  While working, there was not the freedom to travel as much as I do now, so I am taking full advantage of the freedom of retirement.   My favorite mode of travel is the cruise ship.  Where else can you visit many cities, countries, islands, enjoy all the amenities of a luxury resort and only unpack once?  I consider the cruise ship the ” travel buffet”.  You get an opportunity to “taste” many places and then you can decide which one you would like to go back to for “seconds”.  I have done this.  I have gone back to a country that I only visited on a cruise to see more and do more than I was able to do on the one day visit.

I have been traveling for several years now and consider myself and avid traveler.  When I return from one trip, I am ready to plan the next.  I love the excitement of meeting people from all over the country and the world and seeing places in person that I may have only seen in books, magazines, television and movies.  There is a big wide world out there and I intend to see as much as I can, while I can.

As a result of my travel experiences, I have learned many ways to get great deals, upgrades and other travel advantages.

Come back soon as I will be sharing my travels as well as suggestions and information for enhancing yours.

    • Hi Laurie,
So great to hear from you. I am still trying to get my website organized so thank you for your patience.
In reference to deals on cruise liners, if you sign up with http://www.cruisecritics.com and with the particular cruise line you are interested in (ie princess.com) they send regular emails regarding cruise sales. Right now almost all the cruise lines are having great sales, especially for those who are able to cruise at short notice. Upscale cruise lines such as Viking, Oceania and Azamara are also having sales. Some even offer 2 for 1 deals.
The websites I have used are http://www.vacationstogo.com, http://www.cruisesonly.com, http://www.crucon.com. and http://www.cruises.com. It requires a little comparison shopping but it is well worth the effort. It is also good to be on their email lists.
      Hope this helps,
